Merbok UBERSKIN

Merbok’s Uberskins are doorskins with a difference. Uberskins blend the style of a range of decorative solid colours and woodgrain decors with moulded MDF Thinpanels that are specially formulated and processed in order to achieve premium quality mouldings with perfect definition.

DESCRIPTION

Uberskins are prefinished with a hard wearing melamine surface that is scratch and water resistant making them particularly suitable for all types of commercial and domestic projects. Alternatively, Uberskins can be prefinished with an engineered wood veneer providing designers a wide range of options to achieve the look and feel in terms of colour with tints and lacquers.

Uberskins can be fabricated into either a honeycomb or wood fill frame in the same manner as traditional doorskins. However, where standard doorskins need to be primed and painted after fabrication, Uberskins are ready to be installed. The only finishing that is required is peeling off the plastic protecting film just before handover of the project.

Uberskins are available in many designs, widths and colours and creates new possibilities for all architects, designers builders and renovators.

STORING AND HANDLING MERBOK UBERSKIN

Uberskin should be stored undercover in a dry, well ventilated area. Due to the nature of the surface bonding process, the sheets will exhibit some curling along the length. Sheets should be stored flat with uniformly and vertically aligned support bearers and kept in bundles until they are ready to use. All packing materials should be disposed of thoughtfully.

WORKING WITH MERBOK UBERSKIN

Uberskins can be fabricated into either a honeycomb or wood fill frame in the same manner as traditional doorskins with a suitable press and adhesives. However, where standard doorskins need to be primed and painted after fabrication, Uberskins are ready to be installed. The only finishing that is required is peeling off the plastic protecting film just before handover of the project.

If the face is a Veneer, the finishing stage should be done with great care paying particular attention to sanding, moisture control and cleanliness.

There are numerous lacquers available and as is often the case, the high quality lacquers with a higher solids content will give a superior and more durable result. Best results have been achieved using two-pack UV stabilized polyurethane coatings. If the use of and oil type finish is unavoidable, the veneer should be sealed before the application of the oils so as to avoid any effect on the bond between the veneer and the substrate. It is important that the coating manufacturers instructions are followed carefully and it is recommended that the chosen lacquer is applied to a test piece since the choice of sealants and coatings and dye additives will influence the colour of the finished veneer.

It is recommended that when working with Merbok Uberskin suitable dust masks are worn and the work environment is well ventilated.
