Merbok HDX
Merbok HDX Black Panther is a specially formulated high density composite panel that has been developed for applications where high durability, and reliability is required.
DESCRIPTION
HDX’s excellent physical properties make the panel most suitable for a wide range of manufacturing , trade and building applications where long term stability is an essential design criteria.
Merbok HDX , Black Panther is designed for use in more humid environments that maybe exposed to water spills and dampness. It’s fine texture, high bonding strength and inherent stability allows precise and easy machining of panel face and edges, creating endless design and finished product opportunities.
Bonded with a special high moisture resistant binder and coloured black so as to identify these special high density panels, Merbok HDX Black Panther is suitable for joinery, furniture, mouldings, architraves, doors, shelving, wall linings and partitions in laundries, bathrooms and kitchens.
STANDARD PRODUCTS
Merbok HDX Black Panther is available in thicknesses of 12mm, 15mm and 18 mm in a panel size of 2440 mm X 1220 mm.
STORING AND HANDLING MERBOK HDX
Although Merbok HDX is a highly moisture resistant product, panels should be stored undercover in a dry, well ventilated area and when delivered to worksites covered with plastic or tarpaulin sheets until usage. Sheets should be stored flat with uniformly and vertically aligned support bearers which should be placed evenly at 600 mm centres. All packing materials should be disposed of thoughtfully.
WORKING WITH MERBOK HDX
Merbok HDX Black Panther can be cut, machined, filed and drilled with commonly available woodworking equipment. The best cutting can be obtained using 72 – 96 teeth sawblades. It is recommended that appropriate sized pilot holes should be drilled prior to dowelling, nailing or screwing. PVA wood glues are recommended for gluing prior to fixing. Oil, water-based paints and varnishes may be used. It is recommend that all faces are sealed with a moisture resistant sealant and edges sealed with either PVC or Laminate Edge Band. Alternatively water resistant paint maybe used.
It is recommended that when working with HDX suitable dust masks and safety equipment are worn, the work environment is well ventilated and waste disposed of thoughtfully.
