SURFACE CARE MAINTENANCE OF MERBOK GLOBALART
The decorative surface of Merbok GlobalArt under normal interior conditions is colourfast, however long periods of exposure to sunlight or moisture may cause the surface colours to fade. Merbok GlobalArt is not recommended for exterior use. Merbok GlobalArt melamine surfaces are highly resistant to staining from normal household reagents including petrol, spray, soap, non-bleach washing powders and detergents, coffee, wines, red current juice, wax crayons and shoe polish. To maintain Merbok GlobalArt surfaces in good condition, avoid direct contact with hot items and remove spills quickly by wiping with a damp cloth. Merbok GlobalArt can be easily cleaned with household soap or detergent using a damp cloth. Abrasive cleaning agents should not be used.
STORING AND HANDLING MERBOK GLOBALART
Merbok GlobalArt should be stored undercover in a dry, well ventilated area protected from extremes of cold, heat, drafts and moisture. Sheets should be stored flat with uniformly and vertically aligned support bearers, which should be placed evenly at 600mm centres. Take care to lift sheets clear of the pack before removing and keep all work areas clean to avoid damage to the melamine panel during processing. All packing materials should be disposed of thoughtfully.
WORKING WITH MERBOK GLOBALART
Merbok GlobalArt can be cut, machined, filed and drilled with commonly available woodworking equipment. For best results it is recommended that the material be cut with a bench-type or beam saw fitted with a tungsten carbide tipped scribing blade and using a 72-96 tooth 300mm tungsten tipped main blade operating at 4500rpm. It is recommended that appropriate sized pilot holes should be drilled prior to dowelling, nailing or screwing. If Merbok GlobalArt is to be used in areas of high humidity, a water resistant adhesive such as a two pack resorcinol or epoxy type for joining is recommended. Refer to Merbok’s website for detailed information.
It is recommended that when working with Merbok GlobalArt suitable dust masks are worn and the work environment is well ventilated.
